Cowes Golf Club was formed in 1909 and was formally part of the Ward Estate. Throughout the period of the past 100 years the club house has burned down in two separate fires and these events brought about the club’s logo of a phoenix rising twice from the flames. The club has always maintained a competitive spirit and the past year was no exception. Both the men's’ A team and the seniors team winning their respective leagues and the Lady Captain, Maggie Ankers winning her 11th Island championship. Matthew Leek is the Club Captain has also been Island champion and has been a member of the club since his youth. The Senior’s Captain for 2009 is Bob Priddle and the Junior Captain Chris Hayward. Celebrations started in October with the Captain's drive in. The four captains are pictured. A full program of events is scheduled from Friday 10th of July culmunating in the Gala Dinner Dance on the Saturday 18th July.
